Cast Bronze Saucepan

This is a beautiful cast bronze saucepan. It has a 5mm thick wall. The exterior has wonderful sculptural pitted detail, which takes its inspiration from a morel mushroom. It is part of Eaglador's Morel collection.

Specifically, it is made of Kansa bronze an ultra superior metal which is 78% copper, 22% tin. While other metal utensils like copper and brass react to acidic foods including tomatoes, lemon, and salt, Kansa is safe from such reactions due to the high percentage of tin. According to Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine from India, kansa utensils are believed to have health benefits. It is believed that consuming food or liquids from kansa bronze can help balance the body's doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), promoting overall well-being.

The high tin content in the bronze makes it naturally non stick with no surface coating.

Compared for instance to cast iron bronze is lighter, more conductive and in our opinion a better aesthetic. This pan is great for sauteing because of its conductivity. It heats up with speed and also retains heat well due to the thickness of the cast wall. Bronze is also antimicrobial and resists corrosion.

It is also extremely pleasing to look at and admire. The molten lines have a roughness in-between them. We love the contrast between highly polished and wrought surfaces and it works really well here to create an eye-catching texture.

The Roman's used cast bronze saucepans and many are found intact today with some great examples unearthed at the ancient city of Pompeii. This saucepan will last through the generations and is a solid piece of kitchenware.
