LEGATUM CULINÆ

BRONZE IS AS OLD AS CIVILISATION ITSELF AND HAS BEEN USED FOR COOKWARE ACROSS THE CENTURIES.

A Rich Culinary History

Kansa Bronze has been used for cookware since the golden age of Ayurveda 3ooo years ago. However, the last time it was used extensively in the Western Hemisphere was the Tudor period. Yet, bronze remains widely in use for cookware across India and Asia.

THE DIVINE RATIO

Kansa bronze (78% copper 22% tin) is often referred to as a "perfect divine ratio" due to its ideal balance of metals for its valued properties. When used for cookware this composition creates a durable, non-toxic metal that, according to Ayurvedic tradition, offers health benefits, protects nutrients, neutralizes acidity, and enhances flavour when used for cooking. Kansa bronze is highly functional for cookware as tin is naturally non-stick, non toxic and non reactionary, whilst copper is ultra conductive.

Indulge in the extraordinary. This is not merely cookware, but sculpture. The exterior of our pans feature wrought, sculptural lines set against molten polished ones. Evoking tensions between dark and light, ancient and modern. A visually appealing look that could only be achieved with a highly specialised casting process.

LEGATUM CULINÆ

Legatum Culinae, meaning "The legacy of the Kitchen", embodies our vision of cookware as a treasured heirloom, designed to bridge between generations, carrying forward the love of cooking from your hands to your children's and their descendants after them. This is bronze cookware of permanence that grows with your family story and preserves it's health.

Forged from Kansa bronze - a revered alloy with a high tin content recognised in Ayurveda for its wellness benefits - each piece is a testament to metallurgy discovery, health and enduring craftmanship.

Combining high aesthetic standards, and functionality, Eaglador is distinguished by the high quality of its handcrafted bronze cookware designs.

Our artisans engage with rough surfaces set against highly polished molten ones, dark versus light. Ancient and modern. Extreme contrasts and visually appealing weighty objects that hold gravitas and stir visceral emotion.

What captures us is that objects born out of the chaos of fire and furnace can be polished into beautiful, desirable objects that eventually find their way into some of the most beautiful homes in the world.

WHAT IS KANSA BRONZE?

KANSA BRONZE IS A SPECIFIC TYPE OF BRONZE WITH A HIGHER TIN CONTENT. IT IS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME ALLOY AS BRONZE, COMPOSED OF COPPER AND TIN BUT WITH A RATIO OF 78:22, WHEREAS THE AVERAGE COPPER TIN BRONZE RATIO IS 85:15.
